It costs $45 to be a volunteer at the 2013 Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha. (PGA TOUR standards require all volunteers to have a standard dress.)

Benefits of volunteering:

  1. Volunteers will receive the official uniform required by the PGA TOUR (Cox Classic Polo and hat, $60 value)
  2. Meal provided per shift worked
  3. Free parking and shuttle ride
  4. Weekly volunteer badge ($40 value)
  5. An extra weekly grounds pass for family/friend ($40 value)

More than 1,000 volunteers are needed for the 2013 Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha. Listed below you will find brief descriptions of the various volunteer opportunities available prior to and during the tournament. Volunteer Position Breakdown

Position: Caddie
Dates Needed: Tournament Week

 
Description: Local caddies are needed each year to assist the Nationwide Tour Players.  Volunteers must be 16 years of age and older, have some golf experience and in excellent health.  If interested, contact the Caddie Master at khndrcksn@cox.net.
   
Position: Pre-Events
Dates Needed: October through August
   
Description: Volunteers are needed October through July of each Tournament year to help with various Tournament operations, including bulk mailings, public relations, painting, office help, etc.
   
Position: Information Center
Dates Needed: August 22-25
   
Description: Responsible for directing spectators and volunteers to areas of the golf course. Will need to communicate with security, first aid and volunteer central. Communicate with volunteer director for up to date information regarding play and delays.
   
Position: Marshal
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: The Marshal's responsibilities consist of providing control over the gallery, cross walks, ball spotting, rope and gate maintenance for every hole and moving throughout the course during tournament week. This is a standing and/or walking position.
   
Position: Walking Scorer
Dates Needed: August 22-25
   
Description: Walking Scorer must be available to work an entire round and walk an entire 18 holes wearing a fanny pack with a palm pilot, data radio, battery pack, and voice radio with his/her assigned contestant. A thorough knowledge of golf is necessary for this position as scoring includes recording statistics on a palm pilot. Computer or palm pilot knowledge a plus. The Tour insists you attend 1 training session on the operation of the palm pilot. You will not be allowed to score unless you attend this training. Please go to www.shotlink.com for information on this year's walking scorer instructions and the type of statistics that will be collected. Must be 18 years of age.
   
Position: Standard Bearer
Dates Needed: August 22-25
   
Description: This is considered a "physical" position, as you will carry a sign for an entire round of golf (approximately 5 hours). We recommend that you should be in good physical health when volunteering as a standard bearer.
   
Position: On-Course Concessions
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: Set-up, distribution, sales, and clean up of concession stands, corporate tents, and skyboxes. These volunteers will be responsible for handling money and beverages.

Must be at least 21 years of age.
   
Position: Special Events
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: These events include family fun day, volunteer appreciation party, homeowners association party and the fireworks show. Volunteers will be needed to manage crowds, hand out gifts, set-up and tear down the events.
   
Position: Admissions
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: Responsible for ticket sales, Will Call and vehicle entry to tournemant grounds.  Saturday and Sunday shifts may include riding air-conditioned shuttle to collect rider fees.  Shuttle shift lengths are approximately 4 hours and start times vary from 7 am to 11 am.  Shuttle shifts end at 3 pm.
   
Position: Parking Lot
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: Responsible for traffic flow around the Champions Run clubhouse, parking lot and also areas along Eagle Run Drive which are designated for specific parking permits.

Must be 19 years of age.
   
Position: Player Shuttles (On-Course)
Dates Needed: August 22-25
   
Description: Shuttling players and caddies from Hole 18 to Hole 1 and to the Clubhouse.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
   
Position: Finishing Tents
Dates Needed: August 22-25
   
Description: Verify scorecards of players and walking scorers on Hole 9 and 18.
   
Position: ProAm
Dates Needed: August 19th and August 21st
   
Description: Multiple volunteer opportunities include marshal (monitoring pace of play and locating player golf balls), cart assignments, player relations, greeting and working the finishing tent.
   
Position: Product Distribution
Dates Needed: Tournament Week
   
Description: Load and unload products such as pop and adult beverages for distribution. Lifting involved.   Must be at least 21 years of age.
   
Position: Golf Channel
Dates Needed: Aug. 22-25
   
Description: Relay information to the Golf Channel Associate Producer regarding scores, playing order on the fairway, etc.  Microphone Operators: Positioned on an assigned fairway or walking with a group to be located near the players to pick up the sound of the second shot.  A basic knowledge of golf etiquette & scoring is required.  Must be at least 18 years of age.  
   
Position: Manual Scoreboard
Dates Needed: Aug. 22-25
   
Description: Post current scores for tracked PGA golfers received via computer. Involves climbing a ladder and working on elevated platform. Volunteers should have computer/internet experience and knowledge of proper golf etiquette.
   
Position: Tee Water/Ecology
Dates Needed: Aug. 22-25
   
Description: Maintain on-course requirements including stocking player refreshments. This is a physical job requiring some lifting (ice, beverage, etc.). Assist with course cleanup and trash removal on golf course and in hospitality areas.
